1/17/2024 0 Comments Stop aarp junk mailI have been watching a constant commercial about a unfortunate war husband that has minor brain trauma that AARP has found a perfect way to generate money for their cause when our war veterans are suffering from leg losses and body parts blown away and why does AARP become considerate on a family that has nothing to do with real sacrifice. She said AARP doesn't offer any compensation, even if it's our mistake. She apologized but I told her how much time I lost for the false benefit and that good customer service would offer more than an apology, they offer some sort of compensation, however small, to not lose that customer and all the people that customer will talk to. When I called AARP to ask them about it, the agent was also not aware of the benefit, but did find it very clearly laid out on their website. I wasted two entire afternoons trying to find the best eye exam price and narrowed it down to the AARP -Target benefit only to discover that it doesn't exist. I signed up with AARP to get that benefit and made an appointment with Target, but when I arrived for my appointment, the doctor said he knew nothing about the benefit with AARP and the exam will cost between $145-$185. It's not worth the hassle.ĪARP vision benefits page lists $55 vision exam with Target Optical as one of their benefits. User's recommendation: use AARP Travel at your own risk. After at least 45 min I was told the balance due was now $600 MORE than what I expected because my cabin had been "upgraded." What? My cabin number hasn't changed. I did that and of course got an agent who didn't speak good English. I received an email stating I needed to pay the remaining balance due but when I logged into to pay, it wouldn't accept my payment and told me to call. I've called AARP Travel several times and all but one time got an agent who couldn't speak clear English and who I couldn't communicate with. ![]() AARP Travel tells me they can't change anything and I'm just out of luck. Since I only paid the required deposit I didn't know this until weeks later. What actually happened is that my cabin was booked at a different price and WITHOUT any of the promotion that was being offered. ![]() Both cabins were booked at the same time, on the phone with the same agent, in the same cabin category, supposedly at the same price and with the same promotion offered. Made me book separate reservations to get a cabin for my children and made me use son's name and contact. ![]() That is why many lame deals stay active in Hot Deals or Front Page, such as for $3 off $20 for some dumb Amazon item, while some actual killer deal posted by a regular Joe SDer gets shuffled off, buried, and lost in limbo overnight. They screwed my Princess cruise booking nearly beyond recognition. One more tip: If you see an actual killer deal posted by someone who is not a staffer or affiliate, and it disappears to Deal Talk quickly and marked as an expired deal even though it really isn't expired, it is because SD is not getting a cut. ![]() SD and many vendors who pay SD have discovered that if they post a deal here, even a lame one, the suckers will still bite. FYI, Slickdeals gets an affiliate cut on almost everything you see on this site these days, especially anything that is a front page deal, or hot deals that repeat every couple of weeks even though they are not that hot. Both bonus options look pretty junky, but ymmv Seems like their regular promo with Slickdeals getting affiliate cut.įree "Day Bag" is the bonus if you just go to AARP website directly
